ISTA Artist in Residence experience with Keriann O'Rourke

I have been teaching drama and dance to middle school students for the past eight years in Singapore but began my teaching career as a Kindergarten educator for three years prior to moving into the specialist role - and I have found that the two different types of classrooms really aren’t that different at all.

I adore all things that have to do with using our bodies and voices in unique ways to tell stories, interpret texts and to develop a creative understanding of our world around us. I am particularly interested in ways that we can use technology in our arts classroom to make our work come to life - taking what we already know, applying visual, audio and experiential elements to make the actor's experience move beyond the stage.

I have been involved with ISTA for the past five years in a few different avenues. I have hosted and attended many festivals have also joined the team as an Events Coordinator and artist. I am very excited to be “livin’ the ISTA dream”.

Keriann will be working with students from Pre K to Grade 4.

                      ISTA Artists in Residence experience

                              with Ulrich Gottlieb

GWA students are in for a treat with a full week of Drama experiences with our ISTA Artist in Residence - Ulrich Gottlieb. He will be working with students in the senior school, supported by our fabulous Drama experts Mandi  Manson and Danielle Cutiongco throughout the week to expand their understanding and unlock their potential.

Trained in mime, physical theatre and taiji quan as well, I started my theatre experience with street theatre later on stage at the Bavarian State Theatre in Munich, Germany, and later teaching and performing in Vienna, Austria,in school education programs and “classical music and movement”. Later my work extended into physical theatre. I moved to South East Asia, Bangkok, where I worked for Patravadi Theatre and as a lecturer of physical theatre at Srinakarinwirot University Bangkok.

The magic of mime keeps me fascinated. I love looking for the extraordinary in the ordinary. The goal is to combine taiji and qi gong movements with elements of physical theatre to create our own poetic physical language

Ulrich will be working with students from Grade 5 to Grade 10.
